According to Reuters, construction of single-family homes began to decline and building permits hit a 12-month high. Therefore, Market Stadium analyzed the number of building permits by county in the US for multifamily and single-family.
Below is a color map based on the number of multifamily permits over the past six months. Darker blue counties have relatively higher permits over the past 6 months. There are 4 counties in California State and 3 counties in Texas.

Below is a color map based on the number of single-family permits over the past six months. The below table shows the top 10 counties by single-family permits over the 6 months. As you can see, Houston's Harris County had the highest number of single-family home permits over six months, accounting for more than 3% of all permits. Interestingly, there are 3 counties in Houston and 4 counties in Texas

Let’s take a look at what the combined score looks like. Below is a color map based on the combined percentile scores using the number of single-family & multifamily permits over the past six months. A higher ranking indicates a higher number of permits for both single-family and multifamily units over the past six months. As you can see, Harris County in Houston had the highest rate, followed by Maricopa County in Arizona. In conclusion, the majority of single-family and multifamily permits occur in Texas and California counties.
